Is my data safe?
Your document is processed only for the duration of your request, returned, and deleted — we don't keep it. What we do keep is usage information: page counts, and a filename that has itself been through the redaction engine. Your text is never used to train AI models. If a job fails, a short-lived diagnostic record is kept so we can fix it, and that record can contain fragments of the document. As with any tool that handles sensitive material, review the result before relying on it.
Does it work on scanned documents?
Yes, for typed text. ScrubSafe reads born-digital Word and PDF files, and runs optical character recognition over scanned pages and images inside documents, redacting the typed text it finds. Handwriting is not read — anything handwritten, including signatures, passes through untouched, and every run tells you how many images it could not fully read so you can check them by eye.
Will it catch absolutely everything?
No automated tool can promise that, and ScrubSafe can make mistakes. It catches a wide range of sensitive information, and every run produces a review table of what was replaced, so you can check it before the document leaves your hands.
Where is my document processed?
In the United States. ScrubSafe runs on cloud servers there, and to find sensitive details the text of your document is sent to Anthropic, the AI provider behind our detection engine. Anthropic uses it only to return results and does not train its models on it. If your organization requires documents to stay in Canada, or not to be shared with any outside provider, check with whoever handles privacy for you before uploading. What kinds of files can I upload?
Word documents and PDFs. You get the same format back — a Word file returns as Word, a PDF as a PDF — along with the review report.
Is there a limit on document size?
Documents up to 25 pages on the Free plan and document packs, and up to 40 pages on the Monthly plan. Monthly accounts include 25 documents and 1,000 pages each month, resetting on the 1st. Need more? Ask us about Enterprise.
Do document credits expire?
No. Credits from a document pack stay on your account until you use them — no deadline, no subscription attached.
What if it redacts something it shouldn't — or misses something?
Your original file is never touched, so nothing is lost. Every run produces a review table listing each replacement, with borderline items flagged for a second look, so you can correct anything before the document leaves your hands.
Does it clean the parts of a document I can't see?
Yes. Tracked changes, comments and hidden text are removed before scanning begins, and document properties such as the author name are cleared from the finished file.
Do I need to install anything?
No. ScrubSafe runs in your browser — upload, download, done. No plugin, no IT ticket.
How does payment work?
Checkout runs through Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Packs are one-time purchases; Monthly is a subscription with a one-year term.
